The Fredericks Company is a global provider and U.S. based manufacturing company in Huntingdon Valley, PA. The company specializes in high-performance tilt and vacuum measurement products including sensors and control electronics. Founded in 1935, the company has established itself as a trusted brand and respected leader in its industries. The team at Fredericks recognized the value of investing in further development of their online presence with features and functionality designed to enhance the experience of new and existing customers.

In 2019, DVIRC and its strategic partner, Brand Llama, engaged with Fredericks to provide a robust digital marketing program addressing the following elements: providing marketing, strategy, design, and support services, such as website development, search engine optimization, online advertising, email marketing, creating white papers, publishing blog posts, marketing automation, lead scoring, and more. Additionally, DVIRC and Brand Llama established reporting and metrics system for Fredericks’ website and advertisements, which provided highly valuable insight into the short and long-term effects of DVIRC and Brand Llama’s activities.

After several successful initial projects between The Fredericks Company, DVIRC, and Brand Llama, Fredericks expressed interest in selling their products online through an e-commerce implementation on their website. At the time, few companies in their industries were offering the same functionality. Heidi McKenna, President of The Fredericks Company, wanted to change how customers interacted with their website by putting the customer first and offering them an easy-to-use online ordering platform. While there were some concerns with publicly available pricing, McKenna saw an immense growth opportunity through online sales and felt it was the best path forward. In 2021, the company partnered with DVIRC and Brand Llama to build e-commerce functionality into their website.

Solution

The teams at DVIRC and Brand Llama worked closely with The Fredericks Company to understand their needs and provide extensive support and guidance throughout the process. As a result, in June of 2020, they launched a customized e-commerce solution tailored to the unique needs of Fredericks, which took into consideration the technical nature of their products.

Sagan Medvec, Founder of Brand Llama and DVIRC Strategic Partner, was instrumental in the implementation and support of Fredericks with the e-commerce functionality as well as many other projects. He provided insights and recommendations on how to effectively market the company’s products online and how to increase their online visibility. Results

Since 2020, through their engagement with DVIRC, Fredericks has seen the following results:

  • 46.9% increase in sessions and 40.8% increase in organic search traffic
  • 30.1% increase in direct traffic
  • 36.3% increase in contact form submissions
  • Fredericks averaged 30 online orders a month in 2022, up from 20 online orders a month in 2021
  • In 2022, Frederick’s reported $350,000 in new sales and $100,000 in total cost savings
  • Online sales were 3.4% of total sales, and online sales increased 77% from the previous year.

The e-commerce platform has been a tremendous success in attracting new customers. In 2022, one year after launching the e-commerce update, Fredericks had the highest number of new customers in the company’s history, a 16% increase from the previous year. In addition, 82% came from the company’s website, and 57% placed their first order through the e-commerce platform.
