More and more manufacturing companies in our region are developing Registered Apprenticeship programs for their customized technical occupations to rebuild their workforce, retain talent, and transfer knowledge and skills.

Registered Apprenticeship is considered the gold standard of long-term skills gap solutions, as a strategy that allows you to ‘grow your own’ and sends a message to career seekers to ‘learn while you earn’. Criteria include providing a year or more of on-the-job and classroom-based learning, scheduled wage increases, and dedicated mentoring, culminating in your apprentice employees earning a National Certification within their occupation to position them for a robust career path with your company.

Nationally, businesses with Registered Apprenticeship report a 90% apprentice retention rate and an ROI of $1.47 for every $1 spent on an apprentice.

There is support available to your company at no cost with trained Apprenticeship Navigators, who work in conjunction with the PA Apprenticeship and Training Office to help register programs.
